Q1.What’s a normal day in the life of the president of TRUE?
A1. Well I wake up to my one year old daughter, Ella and hang with her. Hanging with her is easily my favorite part of my day. Double espresso is a must. When I head into the office I try think of the one task that seems most daunting and start with that right away. Then my day to day work is primarily in design, development and branding but also host team meetings, financial planning and whatever else is needed of me. I prefer creative work but have an analytical side to me as well and there's nothing more rewarding than physical labor. Outside of a normal day however there's a lot of travel involved - these days that's a lot of visiting our factories in Asia.
Q2. What launch or product are you most excited for in 2019?
A2. TL01, no question. I can't wait for you guys to see these things, and more importantly feel how mind-blowingly light they are.
Q3. How often do you get to golf?
A3. If I have the chance, I'm golfing. Especially during the summertimes here in the NW, can't beat it. That being said, I think I will resonate with most if not all golfers when I say 'not enough'.
Q4: What pair of shoes are you wearing right now? And why?
A4: Oh that's easy... It's summertime and nothing beats the TRUE Knit in warm weather. Nothing better then stepping outside on a warm day and literally feeling the breeze flowing through the shoe.
Q5. What is your biggest accomplishment of 2019?
A5. Man, I'd have to say that would be building products and a brand that people continue to resonate with. I really do geek out over reading reviews and interacting with customers that have found shoes and a brand that they connect with in a meaningful way. At the end of the day I'm a people person - so if I can keep making people's lives better, I'm happy.
Q6. Pick one word to describe the vibe at TRUE HQ.
A6. Northwesty (yes that's a word and it's a good thing)
Q7. What’s your favorite course to play?
A7. I have to go with the course I grew up playing, the Classic Golf Club. When you mix together all the nostalgia of my childhood playing with my pops and brother and then throw in the fact it's a great challenge - that's a win for me. It's a welcoming environment too, which is awesome - golf tends to be a bit too pretentious for my liking. That being said, I've got to say I love a good round at Gamble Sands, Shadow Creek, Tacoma CC, Bandon Trails, Chambers and Gold Mountain Olympic to name a few of my favorites...
Q8. If you could hang out with anyone for one evening, who would you pick, where would you go, and what drink would you choose?
A8. Never really been a big fan boy of celebrities so my answer may be lame, but I'd probably choose to hang with one of my closest friends. I'd pick one of our favorite hangout spots around Tacoma and order myself a good craft beer or Sazerac. I've been lucky enough to travel enough and meet enough 'fancy' people to know that the things closest to you already are the best of things.
Q9. What do you wish you knew more about?
A9. Everything.
Bonus Q's:
Q. Mac or PC?
A. Too easy. Mac, all day.
Q. What’s one goal you have for the next 12 months?
A. To be more active - and teach my daughter to golf.
Q. What old fad or trend do you wish would come back?
A. Anything from my childhood but JNCO jeans.
Q. What’s your favorite thing to do at work?
A. Besides designing shoes, that would have to be our 'three hole' golf championships we play around the office. Oooh, or ping pong. Love me a game of ping pong.
Q. What do you want to be remembered for?
A. For the kind of friend and family member I am. Words like father, brother, son, friend, and husband.
