Splitting the Uprights: Jason Myers on Golf, Comfort, and Chasing the Competitive Itch

By nature, Jason Myers is competitive. It's why the Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks kicker keeps busy during the off-season by playing golf matches against friends.

"Golf just gives me something that satisfies that competitive itch I look for," says the San Diego native. "In-season, it's so competitive day in and day out. Then you get to the off season, and it's just slow moving. That's when I get my buddies on the course, we play games, and we gamble a little bit."

A Historic Season, Grounded in TRUE

Still basking in the glow of a championship and a historic 2025 season, Myers is staying grounded in his TRUE shoes on the golf course as he follows his golfing passions. By season's end, he'd set an NFL record with 206 combined points between the regular season and postseason, and won Super Bowl LX.

  • 206 combined points — an NFL record, regular season plus postseason.
  • 41-for-48 on field goals — 85.4%, leading the NFL in points.
  • Five field goals in a single game — a Super Bowl record.

Numbers like that tend to make a guy particular about what's on his feet.

Comfort First, Casual Always

If you think a guy who makes his living using his feet would be picky about his golf shoes, you'd be correct. Myers has begun wearing the new TRUE linkswear Antigravity shoes out on the course because, in his words, "first of all, they're extremely comfy. I'm big on the comfort. They're amazing — like you're walking on a cloud. And also, I love the casualness. Obviously, they still fit in the golf world, but I'm not a big dress-up type of guy, so the casual wear really resonates with me. I have five pairs of TRUE linkswear shoes."

He may represent the company now, but he was wearing TRUE before he ever knew anyone at it. "I was ordering a bunch of stuff," he recalls. "The casualness really fits the vibe that I roll with on the golf course, so I love the brand."

A Pacific Northwest Fit

Having lived in Seattle — where TRUE is based — since 2018, Myers considers it his second home and says he loves the Pacific Northwest. Already a fan of the brand, the partnership was an easy sell. "Once I started talking with them — and being I'm a big family, tight-knit group person — I got that vibe from them immediately and knew it was a perfect match for me."

Cleats vs. Golf Shoes

What Myers looks for in his football cleats is a different equation entirely. "I've been wearing the same football model for four or five years now," he says. "Nike is always pushing out cleats left and right and always changing stuff. So it's starting to get difficult for me to find the same cleats. I have to order mine from the secondary market, so I don't really go comfort-wise there. But golf shoes, it's comfort first with a more athletic look."

The Same Game, Different Uniform

Myers — who got bit by the golf bug 12 years ago — sees real parallels between his two favorite sports.

"I love the relationships you make with sometimes random people playing golf, and being active outdoors," he says. "But it's the grind of you're never going to play perfect golf but you're always striving. It's very similar to kicking in that way — trying to gauge the weather and your swing and do it all at once in a few seconds."

He finds psychological similarities between lining up a field goal and a tee shot, too. "One hundred percent," he says. "That's why I love it so much. It's trying to have the technical thoughts, but also just the freedom of being an athlete — dealing with whatever pressure there is and then trying your best swing and just enjoying it. The difference is I know what I'm doing while kicking. But with golf, I'm still working on trying to figure out how to dial in everything. It comes down to trying to just relax your body, enjoy the moment, enjoy all the hard work that you've put in, and having fun with it."

Twice a Week, Same Great Buddies

Carrying a 3.2 index, Myers now plays golf twice a week in the off-season, plus hits range balls once or twice a week. A member at two San Diego-area private clubs, he's living out his golf dreams. "What I really enjoy the most is playing with great buddies on a sunny day in San Diego, gambling, having fun, and listening to music," he says. "And I take a golf trip every year with them. I've played a lot of great courses, but I think more important for me is just the group that I'm with."

On the Wish List

Ask Myers what TRUE product he'd love to see next, and he doesn't hesitate: a lightweight golf bag. "Just because of the quality of everything else that they make, their vibe of color schemes, and the aesthetic look of all their gear," he says. "They would do really well."
