TRUE LINKSWEAR HIGHLIGHTS

  • Alexander Toth, a #teamTRUE Ambassador

Alexander Toth started playing golf after meeting Mr. Arnold Palmer in Hamilton, Ontario in 1996. Alex has played on various Mini-Tours in Canada and the United States, and is looking forward to playing a lot of competitive golf for the rest of 2015 with serious health issues put mostly behind him.

As an avid outdoorsman, he can be found fly fishing on any body of water. He is drawn to golf because of the sights, sounds and smells of the game. Whether it's the sound of a well-struck drive, observing wildlife on a course or the smell of freshly mowed fairways.

WHY HE CHOOSES TO LIVE TRUE:

A: “A lot of things have made my choice to wear TRUE linkswear over any other shoe very easy. The first is the comfort. I am a brittle diabetic with poor circulation and the wide toe box design in TRUEs is perfect for people like me. Diabetics never want to wear tight shoes. I have never worn a shoe that is so comfortable, especially with the product range in 2015. The game changer hybrids are amazing. The performance of the shoes ... not once, whether spiked or spikeless, have I worn a shoe that is easy to walk 18 holes in, has long-lasting durability or is so slip-resistant. I love the Zero Drop design as it makes me feel like I'm playing barefoot. I've often said that TRUEs are like wearing slippers.”

Q: What attracted you to get into the sport of golf?

A: “The reason why I got attracted to golf is quite the story. In 1996 I was recovering from a major car accident after being hit by a drunk driver. I suffered severe spinal trauma and this ultimately left me with no use of my arms or legs for 3 weeks. I recovered from the injuries and returned to the workforce. One morning I was in downtown Hamilton, Ontario and the Canadian Senior Open was going on. A man came out of the hotel there and it was Arnold Palmer. Mr. Palmer stopped and talked to me for several minutes and it was that morning I went and bought my first set of clubs. It's the next shot, the smells, the passion and the ability to participate in a sport that makes the game so attractive to me.”

Q: What do you enjoy most about playing the mini tours in Canada?

A: “Quite honestly I haven't played nearly as much as I would like. But, what I do like about playing on the mini tours in Canada (or the United States) is that it allows me to develop as a golfer. I didn't come into this as a collegiate player or after an esteemed amateur career. The mini tours have afforded me the opportunity to compete, develop my game (physically and mentally) and learn. It's also allowing me a chance to build my playing resume. Everything that I'm doing now is for the future... when I turn 50. But it's fun to play with and watch kids that are young enough to be my children.”

Q: What is the best part about having your own personal blog?

A: “The best part about having my own blog is that it allows me the chance to educate golfers on a variety of issues. Whether it's the next great pair of TRUE linkswear shoes or the next great driver or dropping a quick tip. It's always fun to share my  views with people.”

  • Austin Panter #teamTRUE Sports Medicine Chiropractor

Dr. Austin Panter works with all ages and ranges of athletes in and around St. Louis, Missouri. As a golf performance and sports medicine chiropractor he works with weekend warriors and touring pros. He is always on the lookout for products to help his athletes gain the edge on the competition and he firmly believes that TRUE is part of that. Austin played football at the University of Michigan where he also met his wife who played softball for the Wolverines.

    WHY HE CHOOSES TO #LIVETRUE:

"With extensive studies in the proper biomechanics of the body and my athletic history, I understand what it takes to move well and perform at one’s best. Therefore, since golf is not played barefoot, I have searched for the best biomechanical efficient yet stylish and comfortable golf shoe out on the market today. I have tested many and by far none compare to TRUE. TRUE has developed the perfect golf shoe for anyone looking to have the most comfort along with the best biomechanics (i.e posture and set up, foot, ankle, knee, hip and back alignment) one can get from any golf shoe. The swing is built from the ground up, so put your feet in a pair of TRUEs’. I firmly believe in TRUE's products, company and philosophy as it represents and embodies high performance, comfort, and playability not only for top professionals but for everyone involved with the great game of golf. Life has the greatest “playground” so get outside #EnjoytheWalk and #liveTRUE!"

    Q&A

Q: Who or what inspired you to become a golf performance and sport medicine chiropractor?

A: "I always knew I was going to be involved with sports medicine one way or another. Being a part of many high-level competitive athletic arenas growing up and through college, taking care of my body through chiropractic care was an important part of my athletic career. I have always been interested in the body's biomechanics and the way it moves. Therefore, when I graduated from The University of Michigan (Go Blue!) I knew that becoming a Sports Medicine Chiropractor was exactly what I wanted to do. The idea for golf performance came about when watching the PGA Tour 5+ years ago. Realizing the body movements, forces, and athleticism it takes to hit a golf ball caught my attention. That, as well as the pertinent injuries sustained by golfers throughout the year really drew me in to be more involved. Combining both sports medicine chiropractic and golf performance I turn to help any and all age ranges and skill levels of golfers increase performance, limit injuries, and provide proper rehabilitation and treatment with any injury that is sustained during the year."

Q: What type of treatments do you provide for golfers?

A: "With the vast array of injuries, from wrists, shoulders, hips, back, neck and knees just to name a few, treatments are always individualized to each athlete and person. From increasing range of motion in joints through chiropractic manipulation, too soft tissue therapy, acupuncture and proper rehabilitation exercises, all treatments provide a great deal of relief from pain and help improve on the course performance."

Q: What is the best piece of advice on staying safe on the golf course?

A: "The best piece of advice I can give is that order to play golf well, one has to move well. Movement through the hips and back (thoracic spine) is vitally important but yet, undervalued and underappreciated amongst many golfers today. Also, you must swing your own swing. Many times I hear people talking about trying to swing like the pros. However, each pro is different and each body is built differently. Become eager to get the most out of your body with proper exercising and a swing built to your own style."

From the many events he attends to improve his skills, Bernie has developed a passion to help his peers by presenting and chairing a number of events in the Middle Atlantic PGA Section.  On a national level, he has been a featured presenter for the Proponent Group and most recently for Golf Magazine at the 2014, Top-100 Retreat.

    Student Highlights

Championships.  Along with this, he enjoys working with golfers that are new to the game and developing their skills for their long term enjoyment of the game.

WHY HE CHOOSES TO LIVE TRUE:

"Throughout my career as a golfer, I've had a constant challenge in finding shoes that fit comfortably and offer the performance I'm looking for when I play and teach golf.  This challenge has become even bigger in the past 5 years, due to a foot injury that made wearing cleated shoes extremely painful.  After trying virtually every type of golf on the market, custom orthotics, physical therapy, and off-loading techniques to reduce the pain, I found the root of the problem was coming from the restrictive nature of modern shoe designs.  When I tried TRUE linkswear, it was amazing to feel the benefits of the "Zero Drop" technology that sets TRUE apart from the competition and is allowing me to walk the course pain free."

    Q&A

Q: Who, or what inspired you to become a PGA Director of Instruction?

A: "Becoming a PGA Director of Instruction has been a by-product of my love of the game and my desire to help golfers improve their games.  I've been extremely fortunate throughout my career to work with a wide range of golfers that have helped me develop a comprehensive instruction program that continues to evolve and set me on a path to become a PGA Director of Instruction."

Q: You are a great role model for young and aspiring pro golfers. Who has your role model been through your career?

A: "I've been extremely fortunate to have some wonderful mentors throughout my career that have helped me understand what it takes to be successful and have challenged me along the way to keep pushing ahead.  With this in mind, the most influential mentors in my career have been Charlie Staples,  Bob Dolan, Wayne DeFrancesco, Martin Hall, Mike Adams, Jim Hardy, and Dennis Satyshur."

Q: What is the best piece of advice you can give to aid golfers in their swings?

A: "Good golf starts from the ground up.  Be sure your shoes are giving you the best chance for balance and comfort when you play."

  • Francis Biondi: #teamTRUE Chef

Most reality TV fans will recognize Francis Biondi as a Season 5 Finalist on the hit show MasterChef. After graduating from Florida State University, he decided to pursue his dream of becoming a professional golfer and played in a number of competitive tournaments around Florida. He soon made Orlando his home and continued to train and compete until a serious nerve injury stifled his plans. He then pursued a passion for food and cooking, which eventually led him to the bright lights of TV. Today, he’s back to the game and is hoping to qualify for open championships and possibly qualify for the European Tour.

    FBiondiSM copy

    WHY HE CHOOSES TO #LIVETRUE

"I shot my lowest round wearing TRUE linkswear shoes! For someone who trains as much as I do on the course, I need a lightweight and sturdy shoe that keeps me well-balanced and grounded. TRUE shoes exceed in all these characteristics and more. I look forward to growing with this company as I pursue my goal of gaining tour status very soon!"

    Q&A

Q: What attracted you to the game of golf?

A: "My mom likes to tell the story of how, as a baby, I would watch golfers on TV and I would try to emulate their swings. After that, my dad put a golf club in my hand when I was 6 years old, and ever since then it has been my passion. I learned the majority of what I know about golf from my father, Ed, a golf and baseball fanatic. He taught me the fundamentals from his book Ben Hogan’s 5 Lessons, and I would stay up every night reading Tiger Wood’s How I Play Golf. I grew up watching Tiger dominate the scene and wanted to one day play on tour like him."

Q: Who inspired you to become a chef?

A: "Coming from a Filipino and Italian background, our family events revolved around varieties of delicious food, so I grew up eating and tasting different dishes starting at a young age. I think that having a mom and dad who enjoy cooking at home has inspired me to learn how to cook. I see cooking as a necessary skill that everyone should learn."

Q: As an all-star chef, what does your “golfer diet” consist of?

A: "Being that I am very active, training both on and off the course, my body constantly needs nutrients for both fuel and recovery throughout the day. A typical breakfast for me is a daily dose of Green Vibrance in my morning shake alongside some greek yogurt with honey and granola. During my round I take with me a couple of my homemade all-nautral energy bars, and at night I’ll stick to fish over red meat, grains like farro and quinoa instead of heavy carbs, and a lot of green vegetables. Every so often I’ll have a pasta cheat day, but I’ll make the dough and sauces myself."

  • Oscar Fraustro: #teamTRUE Tour Pro

Growing up in Mexico City, Oscar Fraustro was surrounded by lush green golf courses. When his family moved a little further north, he became more curious about the world of golf.  Picking up the game at age 12, Oscar turned his curiosity into extreme talent as he grew older. In 2004, Oscar was an All Conference player at the University of South Florida. From 2003 to 2005, he was the top-ranked amateur in Mexico. After turning pro in 2006, he was named “Rookie of the Year” on the Mexican Tour.  Following this success, he played the Gateway Tour and the Asian Tour, among other pro tours around the world. Oscar’s ability to play successfully around the globe against the game's elite has reassured him that he made the right decision to pick up golf all those years ago.

    FullSizeRender-1

    WHY HE CHOOSES TO #LIVETRUE

"TRUEs give me the best feel and balance through my swing, plus they’re the only golf shoes I have ever worn that I can keep on for hours after finishing a round. They are so comfortable, and that makes a huge difference after playing a few weeks in a row and spending countless hours on the golf course." Oscar loves all of the styles that TRUE has to offer, but he is currently wearing the TRUE motion. He believes they have all the characteristics of what he looks for in a shoe.

     Q&A:

Q: What sparked your interest in golf at such a young age in Mexico?

A: "Pure curiosity.  I was always playing sports (soccer, tennis, rollerblading, etc) and after joining a newly built Country Club with 9 holes, I decided to try it.   At the time I had a cast covering my entire left arm, (I broke my left wrist rollerblading) so my first few swings were with one hand!"

Q: You’ve had a very successful international career, who or what would you say contributed most to your success?

A: "I left my house to come to the U.S. without speaking English, to a golf academy when I was 17. I had to learn to be comfortable while being out of my comfort zone very early.  Now, I feel at home as long as I am in a golf course."

Q: What goes into your selection process of footwear and how important are your shoes for your game?

A: "They are the contact to the ground, so these shoes are just as important as any part of my equipment. I am a feel player, and I love the bare feel of TRUEs that keep me closest to the ground and give me instant feedback on the surfaces and motion of my swing.  I want a shoe that gives me the confidence to swing as hard as I can without limitations, while providing balance and feel. TRUEs accomplish that and more!"

Q: Is there any piece of advice you would offer young aspiring golfers?

A: "Patience. Not only on the course during a round, but with your practice and development. It’s in our nature to want everything right away, especially when we are young, but in order to succeed in golf you need perseverance and patiently wait for your hard work to come together and get the results you want."

  • Shane LeBaron: a #teamTRUE ambassador

It was about 15 years ago when Shane LeBaron made the decision to be the best golf instructor he could be. His passion for helping golfers improve over the years has solidified Shane as one of the top young instructors in the nation. He's built a student base in several areas around the country and also coaches several professionals on the LPGA, Champions, Web.com and Canadian Tours. Many factors contribute to Shane's success, but it's two distinct trials in his life he overcame that make him most proud.

Being dyslexic made school unbelievably difficult due to the fact that he had to learn differently than most. He assumed that his predetermined career path was set up for menial labor, until he realized what a tremendous gift and advantage dyslexia gives him as an instructor. He finds creative and unique methods to teach golf and has found that his students respond and retain lessons in that creative environment.

The second defining moment was the day Shane severely injured his left arm hitting an 8 iron from a fairway lie. Not knowing if he will ever play golf again, he put all of his efforts towards recovery. Once he did regain strength and movement, Shane realized he could no longer make the swing he once did without lingering pain. It was this incident that led him on a path to discover there is more than one way to enjoy and be involved in golf.

Despite these setbacks, Shane has many fantastic roles in the world of golf. He is a Callaway Master Staff Instructor, has been named "Best Teachers In Your State" by Golf Digest, and was nominated to Golf Magazine's Top 100 Instructors. Shane's unique approach to the game is refreshing to his players as he focuses on the student, not the technology or swing theory. In a complex game, it seems Shane can find the calm in the eye of the storm.

    WHY HE LOVES HIS TRUEs:

In the trunk of most golf instructors' cars you will find anywhere from 3-5 pairs of golf shoes. Shane got to the point of only wearing running shoes until he tried TRUE linkswear. Shane knows that "when you are on your feet teaching and playing 10 hours a day, it is with 100% certainty that TRUEs are the most comfortable and best performing shoes in the game."

Screen Shot 2015-07-20 at 2.00.45 PM

    Q&A:

Q: Why do you choose to wear TRUEs over any other golf shoe?

A: "Two reasons: Number one, I believe in the TRUE linkswear brand. The design and performance are above the competition. Number two, the individuals associated with TRUE are wonderful people. It's one thing to be excited about a product, but it's even better when you get to work with the great people behind the product."

Q: How long have you been passionate about golf, and who or what made you want to play?

A: "I was exceptionally fortunate to grow up with the game playing a role in my every day life. My father, who is also a golf professional, introduced me to the game and I remember idolizing my dad's assistant pros of how 'cool' they were and how well they played. Most kids growing up worshiped football, basketball, and baseball stars. My heroes have always been golf pros."

  • 2015: The Year of TRUE Comfort56

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - We are very excited to introduce the 2015 Spring/Summer Collection with six new models, including TRUEs first-ever spiked shoes, and all featuring new design elements and breakthrough technologies that will enhance comfort on and off the course. TRUE is so committed to providing unmatched comfort in every shoe, that a TRUE Comfort™ Guarantee was created for the 2015 models, encouraging golfers to test the shoes on the course instead of just the carpeted shoe department floor.

“We’re confident that golfers will have that WOW! moment when they wear our new TRUEs that we don’t mind guaranteeing it with a 30-day return policy,” said Jason Moore, TRUE linkswear vice president of product development. “Everything we do in the design and manufacturing of our shoes is run through a comfort filter, so to speak. If it doesn’t make the shoe more comfortable, we don’t include it.”

This year marks the first time TRUE enters the spiked shoe category with the Game Changer Pro, Classix and Fairways. To remain the most comfortable golf shoe, TRUE designers were challenged to find ways to integrate spikes while maintaining the barefoot style of the company’s heritage. Different sole designs and layers were created for each model, including P-Motion Technology in the Game Changer Series.

    GCPro

    Game Changer Pro
Featuring P-Motion Technology, designers utilized an ultra-thin, lightweight proprietary rubber mesh compound created by a biomechanical engineer in the midsole of the Game Changer Pro to create the most flexible spiked shoe on the market. The combination of the rubber mesh and thin EVA foam, PMotion delivers unprecedented TRUE Comfort and shock absorption allowing your foot to move naturally
    and breathe inside the shoe.

“This has been a two year project because we didn’t want our first spiked shoe to be a ‘me too’ spiked shoe that follows the others. We’ve always strived to be different, and Game Changer Pro is just that,” said Moore. “By using P-Motion we eliminated the feel of pressure points under the foot caused by soft spikes. This allowed us to make the thinnest and most flexible replaceable spiked shoe in the industry
without the feeling of seven spike platforms under each foot.”

By incorporating the replaceable Champ™ Zarma Tour™ soft spikes and the Slim-Lok™ system, designers were able to maintain a zero drop design with the spikes recessed into the sole. The Game Changer Pro features a premium leather upper in four color styles, including black with white accents, white with grey accents, white with TRUE red accents, and grey with trophy gold and white accents.

    Classix

    Classix
The Classix is a combination of traditional styling and innovative design that answered the requests from many of the top players who were looking for TRUE comfort. The full-grain premium leather upper with a throwback saddle style sits on a flexible outsole featuring a thin and lightweight rubber tread system using the replaceable, low profile and flexible Champ™ Zarma Tour™ soft spikes. The Champ StreetCaps™
are also included that allow you to convert the shoe to a comfortable street tread. The cushioning provided by a thin EVA midsole makes for a noticeable comfort difference compared to the more traditional, rigid classic golf shoes of the past.

As a shoe still in the prototype stage in the fall of 2014, PGA Tour pro Ryan Moore tested the Classix during the CIMB Classic in Malaysia. The shoes tested extremely well as Ryan collected his fourth PGA Tour victory and kick-started his 2015 season. “I fell in love with the Classix immediately. This is what I’ll wear most weeks out here because it’s very versatile and incredibly comfortable,” said Ryan, who not only owns four victories on tour but is also the founder of TRUE. “I felt it was our responsibility to make a spiked golf shoe that’s lightweight and
comfortable and I think we nailed it with this one.”

Classix will ship April 2 and will be available in three color styles, including grey with white accents, black with white accents, and white with royal blue accents.

    GC Hybrid

    Game Changer Hybrid
Like the spiked Pro version, the Game Changer Hybrid is built with P-Motion Technology for maximum comfort and flexibility. The Hybrid features a rubber tread system with a high-density coverage pattern on the sole for increased stability and traction. The ultra-soft leather upper has minimal designer aesthetics for a sleek look.

“This is the perfect golf shoe for players who may want to play 36 holes from sunrise to sunset or for the golf teacher who’s on his or her feet all day. That’s just how comfortable these are,” said Jason Moore. “The combination of the P-Motion rubber mesh and foam midsole along with the rubber tread outsole, in combination with the sock fit mid-foot and wide toe box – you’ll have to find a good reason to take these
    shoes off your feet.”

The Game Changer Hybrid is available in four color styles, including white with grey accents, black with charcoal accents, grey with navy blue and charcoal accents, and white with orange and chocolate accents. The Hybrid will ship March 2.

    Motion1

    Motion
The Motion was inspired by the popular TRUE street style models of the past, now with an improved leather upper, updated styling perfect for on and off course, more aggressive barefoot tread and features improved comfort essentials. The Motion is an ideal shoe for those seeking a sleek update to classic TRUE barefoot performance and comfort.

The Motion is built with a zero drop sole eliminating the forced heel found in most golf shoes, a wide toe box that allows for a better fit for the natural shape of the foot, lightweight materials that let the foot function freely and naturally, a thin sole offering closer proximity to the ground, and increased flexibility from a one-piece rubber outsole that allows the foot to closely mimic barefoot movement.

Available in four color styles, the stylish Motion comes in models of black with white accents, white with black accents, white with burnt orange and grey accents, and grey with navy blue and white accents. The Motion ships March 2.

    Oxford

    Oxford
By popular demand the Oxford continues in 2015 with five new styles featuring more durable materials and refined design characteristics compared to past Oxford styles from TRUE. The bold and hip look of the Oxford along with the overall comfort is a statement shoe for the golf trendsetter.

“Honestly, as a company of passionate golfers, we created the Oxford for us,” said Jason Moore. “We wanted the perfect golf shoe that we can wear into the office and onto the course. The Oxford is for the guy who is a golfer all the time, no matter what he’s doing, he’s always ready to hit balls or go play a quick nine.”

The upper is made of an enhanced waterproof, weather resistant PU leather with a soft suede heel for better comfort. The one-piece TRUE barefoot rubber tread outsole of the Oxford is ultra-flexible and provides the right amount of traction for the golfer on or off the course. The new styles of the Oxford include white with black accents, moss green, mud brown, stone grey, and black with light grey accents. The Oxford ships on April 2.

    Fairways

    Fairways
Inbee Park, LPGA star currently ranked #2 in the world, was attracted to TRUE for the comfort and performance she experienced with the shoes for the past couple of years. She joined #teamTRUE and quickly became involved in the new designs of the Fairways, specifically designed for women wanting style without sacrificing performance or comfort.

“Working with Inbee, we really wanted to step up to the plate with a shoe that’s worthy of one of the best golfers in the world. A task we didn’t take lightly,” said Jason Moore. “It’s a very comfortable shoe that is incredibly stable, durable and flexible.”

The Fairways were created similarly to the Classix with hand-finished detailing and a full-grain premium leather upper, in a minimal and modern wingtip style, that sits on a flexible outsole featuring a thin and lightweight rubber tread system using the replaceable, low profile and flexible Champ™ Zarma Tour™ soft spikes.

Fairways are available in three color styles, including white with teal accents, black with pop pink accents, and white with grey accents. These ship April 2.

  • What Makes The Game Changer Hybrid So Comfortable?

New for 2015 is the TRUE Game Changer Hybrid that sets a new standard of comfort while also providing game-changing traction, balance and stability thanks to our new P-Motion Technology. This is the shoe for the golfer who plays 36 in a day or a golf teacher who's on his feet from sunrise to sunset.

The Game Changer Hybrid has every comfort element and shock absorbing benefit the Game Changer Pro has but with a rubber tread outsole. This is for the golfer who doesn’t want soft spikes but prefers a soft rubber tread instead in an ultra-comfortable shoe that is waterproof and constructed of premium materials.

You can wear these shoes for 6, 8, 12 months and every time you slip them on it feels like the first time. Classix
